What is Face Lift Tape and how do celebrities use this beauty trick?

Stars have been known to use all sorts of celebrity beauty tricks to look stunning on and off the red carpet. One hack is to use duct tape for the face lift. The product can change the appearance of the user so much that others might think the person has had cosmetic surgery. Ask supermodel Bella Hadid.
Bella Hadid admits to having her nose done and using duct tape for face lift, but denies other cosmetic procedures
In a recent Vogue interview, Bella Hadid opened up about her modeling career from highs to lows. One major thing she revealed was a nose job she had when she was 14. Many were surprised to learn that the model regrets having had the cosmetic procedure.
“I wish I had kept my ancestors’ noses,” Hadid told Vogue. “I think I would have grown into it.” However, Hadid claimed it was the only cosmetic surgery she had performed, which many observers find hard to believe.
“People think I completely fucked my face because of a picture of me as a puffy teenager,” she explained. “I’m pretty sure you don’t look the same as you did when you were 13, do you?” I have never used filler. Let’s put an end to this. I have no problem with it, but it’s not for me.
She continued: “Anyone who thinks I got my eyes lifted or whatever it’s called – it’s face tape! Oldest trick in the book. I got this impostor syndrome where people made me feel like I didn’t deserve any of that. People always have something to say, but what I have to say is that I’ve always been misunderstood in my industry and by people that surround me.

So, for the uninitiated, what is facelift band? That’s pretty much what it sounds like: duct tape for your face. The tape is applied near the hairline to give the wearer the appearance of having had a facelift, defining areas such as the cheekbones, neck, jawline and eyes. Even though the face-lift tape trend is going viral, makeup artists say it’s nothing new.
Dani Kimiko Vincent, celebrity makeup artist and founder of beauty line Kimiko, told InStyle, “[Face lift tape has] has existed for many decades. They work by lifting and tightening the skin with an adhesive that sticks to either side of the face. It’s a similar concept to having a high, tight ponytail that pulls your face back and up.
Many consider the lifting strip a quick and easy trick to make your face look tighter, but some dermatologists warn against using the product.
“Tapping your face with different adhesives can damage the skin. For one thing, these facial strips are designed to pull and lift the skin — it takes a lot of strong glue to stick, hold and pull,” famed esthetician and dermatology nurse Natalie Aguilar told InStyle. “With prolonged use, the skin may become darker, drier, flaky and often itchy where the tape has been placed. Constant use of lifting strips may also cause allergies, as many of these strips contain irritating adhesives.
Why Many Don’t Believe Bella Hadid Didn’t Have Fillers and Other Cosmetic Procedures
Although Bella Hadid claimed in Vogue interview that she’s never had fillers, some observers still believe the model isn’t fully transparent about her cosmetic procedures. They point to the 25-year-old’s defined cheeks, upper lip and jawline.
While no one needs to divulge their surgeries if they don’t want to, some observers are unhappy with Hadid’s seemingly adamant denial of having undergone any procedures other than a nose job.
Although Hadid confirmed that she had undergone rhinoplasty, she did not confirm any other potential cosmetic surgery. Whether the model has done more work, using face lift tape is just another trick that celebrities — and the average person — can use to change their looks.
