How to stay warm in bed in winter

With the freezing winter weather, it’s no surprise that many of us are spending more time in bed to avoid the bitter cold.

Georgia Metcalfe, UK-based co-founder and creative director of The French bedroom society came to the rescue and provided five tips that will keep you warm through the coming cold months.

According to the sleep expert, the best temperature to help you fall asleep is around 18°C - and that can be achieved in the colder months by turning the duvet inside out.

“Choose a duvet with a top tog of at least 13 that will retain as much warmth as possible,” she explains.

“It will keep you snug throughout the colder months, and you’ll never want to leave your boudoir as it will keep you wonderfully cozy.”

“If you want an extra layer, put a velvet bedspread over your bed linen, or for something more luxurious, try cashmere.”

She went on to note that it’s easy to feel sluggish when the alarm goes off on a cold morning, but says you’ll feel more comfortable changing your bed materials, such as changing your bedding to silk pajamas and putting on a pair of soft socks as this will help you feel warmer, improving your sleep.
