Red Deer County honored for paperwork removal efforts

Red Deer County received the 2021 Minister’s Award for Municipal Excellence with special recognition for red tape reduction in the rural municipality.
The award recognizes the county’s efforts over the past year for initiatives to reduce the unnecessary time and resources spent by citizens and businesses to comply with regulatory and administrative requirements imposed by laws, regulations and policies , forms and associated guides. Since 2002, this annual awards program has encouraged municipalities to share their successes by recognizing achievements in the delivery of municipal services in Alberta.
In an official letter from the Honorable Ric McIver, the Minister of Municipal Affairs commends the County of Red Deer for “the work to facilitate business start-ups in the municipality, including streamlining business approvals.” In the letter, the department’s review committee underscored the collaborative nature of the Red Deer County initiative and appreciated the overall goal of helping businesses succeed in the community.
“This certificate of recognition shows that the county is proud to create solutions for its residents and its taxpayers, it is a level of accomplishment of which we are really proud! Red Deer County Mayor Jim Wood added.
