Kobe Bryant declined interview because reporter wore Adidas, not Nike
The late Kobe Bryant would have turned 44 today, and tributes to the five-time NBA champion are flooding the internet.
It’s never a bad time to remember Kobe, so it was always interesting to learn a new story about the legendary Lakers superstar. Each offers a glimpse into the spirit and personality of iconic basketball.
The last story about Kobe that caught my eye was by veteran NBA reporter Marc Spears. The sportswriter requested an interview from Bryant, who agreed to do so but with a very unusual condition: Spears would have to change her wardrobe.
You can watch Spears tell the story in her own words below:

According to Spears, Bryant said he would only argue with him if he no longer wore Adidas:
“Why are you wearing that Adidas thing, man? You know I’m Nike. I’m not going to do the interview unless you get rid of this costume… When you get home I want you to take this costume and throw it away and I want you to show me a video of you throwing the costume so I know you actually made it.
spears already told this storyand he previously said that during the trade, Bryant was with former Nike executive Nico Harison, who is now president of basketball operations for the Mavericks.
Sadly, however, this story doesn’t have a twist in which Bryant offered Spears a Nike replacement.
