Just Say It While offers custom crafts

At Just Say It Though, shop owner Christen Markovich decided to channel her love for craftsmanship into a business providing unique, handmade products through a variety of media.
Markovich describes herself as a self-taught craftswoman. It all started with an interest in quilling, an art form that involves using strips of paper rolled, shaped and glued together to create decorative designs. Having come across a feather project, she decided to learn how to do it herself online.
“It’s really relaxing for me,” she said. “I like detailed work, so anything that’s really detailed or really small that I can really work on, I like that.”
She said she started selling her crafts at Christmas Craft Town Center and decided to make a business out of it, before moving to a storefront in Zarah’s mall. Recently, she moved to 2604 19th St., at the northwest corner of 19th and Washington streets. Last week was his first in his new location.
In addition to quilling, she creates handmade cards, string art, wood stain designs, macrame, book folding, painting, and other types of custom crafts.
Much of the work she does centers around different themes, including several holidays, but she said she takes custom orders and usually gets a lot of orders for weddings and other special occasions. Some of the products displayed in her store include cards, ornaments, decorative wall hangings, photo frames, mugs and more.
The length of each project may depend on the complexity of the project, she said. Especially with quilling, she said, more intricate ornaments with multiple different parts can be time consuming.
