India: Prashant Kishor presents to Congress the roadmap for the 2024 elections

New Delhi: Political strategist Prashant Kishor presented a detailed roadmap for the 2024 elections to Acting Congress President Sonia Gandhi and top party leaders on Saturday.
After the presentation, Sonia Gandhi set up a committee to review the suggestions.
“Prashant Kishor has made a detailed presentation for the 2024 elections and the Congress President has appointed a small group to look into the matter and report back to him within a week and after that a final decision will be made,” said the general secretary of the KC Venugopal organization.
Sources mentioned that Prashant Kishor said at the meeting that the Congress party should aim for up to 400 seats out of 543 by 2024 and work on alliances wherever the party was weak.
Sources also said that Kishor is expected to officially join Congress soon.
Previously, the meeting, convened by Sonia Gandhi to discuss issues related to “Chintan Shivir” and the upcoming polls, brought together top party leaders – Ambika Soni, Digvijaya Singh, Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Ajay Maken.
The meeting lasted over two hours and political strategist Prashant Kishor walked out the back door after giving the presentation.
Notably, Kishor has met the Gandhis on several occasions over the past few weeks.
The Congress is preparing to convene a meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) before the “Chintan Shivir”. The CWC will meet to finalize the Shivir agenda.
Senior congressional leaders met regularly to work on the agenda. Sonia Gandhi assigned this task to senior leaders such as Ambika Soni and Mukul Wasnik, who held talks with other leaders to finalize the agenda for CWC and Chintan Shivir.
Rahul Gandhi visits Telangana on May 6-7
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is due to visit Telangana on May 6-7.
MP and party affairs officer in Telangana, Manickam Tagore announced on Saturday that Rahul Gandhi would speak at a public meeting in Warangal on May 6. The next day, he will hold a meeting with party leaders in Hyderabad.
Tagore tweeted that they welcome their leader after reaching 40 lakh membership.
In the digital membership registration campaign, which ended on Friday, the state Congress registered 40 lakh members.
The schedule for Rahul Gandhi’s visit was finalized in a meeting Tagore held with Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Chief A. Revanth Reddy and other senior leaders.
The meeting discussed Rahul Gandhi’s tour schedule, party-building plans and public issues to be addressed ahead of next year’s Assembly elections.
MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy who was recently awarded star activist status by the central leadership of the party, former TPCC leader Uttam Kumar Reddy, former Union minister Renuka Chowdary, top leader V.Hanumantha Rao , Congress Legislative Party Leader Bhatti Vikramarka, TPCC Labor Chairs and other leaders attended the meeting.
This will be Rahul Gandhi’s first visit to Telangana after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and it follows his intervention to bring order to Telangana following emerging leadership differences.
On April 6, Rahul Gandhi met with Telangana leaders in Delhi and announced a party forum to settle differences. He told the leaders to bring any grievances about the functioning of the party to the attention of the forum instead of making public statements.
He warned party leaders against running groups and thus harming party interests. He promised to dedicate more time to Telangana and focus on revitalizing the party in the state.
