Grasim Industries appoints Hari Krishna Agarwal as Managing Director
The board of directors of the company at its meeting held on September 1, 2021 had accepted the request of Dilip Gaur, the current CEO for early retirement.
The flagship company of the Aditya Birla group, Grasim Industries Ltd, has appointed Hari Krishna Agarwal as chief executive officer with effect from December 1, 2021, following a request for early retirement from incumbent Dilip Gaur, according to a regulatory filing by the company.
The company’s board of directors at its September 1, 2021 meeting accepted Mr. Gaur’s request for early retirement.
As a result, “Mr. Gaur will cease to be managing director and key management staff as well as a member of the board of directors of the company as of the closing of business hours on November 30, 2021,” the file added.
Earlier in February this year, the board of directors approved the reappointment of Mr Gaur as chief executive for a period of one year from April 1, 2021.
Mr. Gaur joined the Aditya Birla Group (ABG) in 2004 after spending 24 years with Hindustan Unilever Ltd.
The company further stated that its board of directors has approved the appointment of Mr. Agarwal, “as chief executive officer and key management personnel” for a period of two years with effect from December 1, 2021 to November 30, 2023, subject to shareholder approval.
Mr. Agarwal is a veteran of ABG, of which he has been a member for almost four decades. During this period, he held various positions in the cement, chemicals and pulp and fiber sectors before taking up his current position as company manager, pulp and fiber, according to the file.
A chartered accountant and holder of an Executive MBA from Sasin, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, he started his career at ABG in 1982 as a Management Trainee at Rajashree Cement, a division of Indian Rayon, he added.
