Factory Smokestack Prague – The Rare Vertical Survivor
Coming to Libeňský most from Libeň, you will walk through one of the gems of the old industrial area. The chimney of the former Perutz brothers’ textile factory now stands in the Palmovka Open Park IV office block area. in Voctářova Street.
There are 8,000 chimneys in the Czech Republic, half of which are made of brick. And about 600 of them are over a century old. The Libeň fireplace is part of the cultural heritage, protected since 2020. Despite the new visual icons of the modern era, the Libeň fireplace still catches the eye. In general, most older batteries cannot be accessed at a contact distance, if at all.
Look at the octagonal solid brick foot and how tastefully it is decorative. The foot, the cube and the cover are the three parts that make up the industrial monument. The structure is approximately 57 meters high. It’s hard to forget the local history with such an essential symbol. The giant stands on a slightly sloping ground with wild meadow plants. The path, a shortcut from Libeňský most to Voctářova Street, passes all around.
I like to say shadow play on sunny days is amazing. Taking a photo with a fireplace requires hacking your creativity. Come see for yourself.
